Nepal in monsoon

The monsoon marks summertime in Nepal, but travelers can still enjoy some nice attractions while visiting the country. Kathmandu and Pokhara get light to heavy rainfall during the summer in Nepal. Upper Mustang Trek and Annapurna Circuit Trek are good while travelling to Nepal in summer, however, until you reach to trekking starting point and from the trekking ending point back to Kathmandu, you may prepare that rain can influence. The summer trip in the Himalayas is really beautiful, green, and it is the time when many alpine flowers are blooming. Once the weather window is in favor, you can have the stunning view of the mountains and landscapes.

Nepal is good to travel to all around the year, but every season has its own merits and demerits. During the monsoon the most parts of the countryside are at risk of floods and landslides, so you need to be careful while choosing the treks in Nepal during monsoon time. The Upper Mustang Trek and Annapurna Circuit Trek are located in the trans-Himalayan zone of Nepal and are considered safe treks during the summer, as this part of the country is away from the heavy rainfall. No matter what season you are travelling to Nepal certainly have some challenges. Spring season in Nepal, you may have to face the wind and misty weather at altitudes below 3500 meters asl, and pre-monsoon can take place at any time. Autumn time, the visibility should be better at lower altitudes too after the monsoon, but sometimes the monsoon can stay longer, and you may get rain and cloud even in autumn time as well.

Why Upper  Mustang or Annapurna Circuit Trek good in the Summer?

The Upper Mustang trek or Annapurna Circuit has amazing landscapes and typical Buddhist culture. There are many ancient monasteries, caves, and old palaces. The climate here in the monsoon is really good. It is not too cold and not too windy in the summertime.  Especially, the Upper Mustang is very windy during the autumn and spring, so if you are planning a trip to Nepal between May to September, then we strongly advise you to take the Upper Mustang trek. The Annapurna Circuit has an even better climate in spring and autumn. Only in an alternative to the Upper Mustang Trek, we advise you to take the Annapurna Circuit Trek. Normal physical fitness people can do this trek, however, the Annapurna Circuit trek is more demanding compared to the Upper Mustang Trek. The highest altitude you will be in the Upper Mustang trek is Pa Pass - 4183 M, while as Annapurna Circuit Trek will take you to  Throng La Pass - 5416 M.  Every day distances on the Upper Mustang Trek are longer than on the Annapurna Circuit Trek. The lowest temperature you have to prepare for the Upper Mustang Trek is about +12  to 15  degrees Celsius, and for the Annapurna Circuit is about +5 to +10 degrees Celsius in the summertime.

For a safe and dry climate, Upper Mustang or the Annapurna Circuit can be the best choice for your upcoming summer treks in Nepal. These parts do not have a big risk of landslides, avalanches. Keep planning your trip to Nepal and do not miss exploring wherever time allows you.
