Langtang Region Trek

Langtang region of Nepal is very close from Kathmandu. It is situated just in the distance of 80 km north of Kathmandu. You can plan from a week trek to two weeks trek in Langtang region of Nepal. The region is very closer to Tibetan boarder and people there speaks Tibetan language. There is majority of Tamang tribe of people and rich in culture. Most of the part of the Langtang valley is inside the Langtang National Park which is the kingdom of more than 250 species of birds. The trail mostly is though the rhododendron, pine, oak forests. While planning a trek to Langtang region, you do not need to think much about high altitude sickness as you are not going to spend more days over 4000 metres. Different kinds of animals like red panda, Himalayan black beer, snow leopard, Himalayan tahr etc are found in the Langtang region of Nepal. It is the region where you can experience the rural life, Tibetan culture, wildlife.  There is a holy mountain called Langtang Lirung and local people believe it as their saint god. The holy Gosaikunda lake which is popular among Hindus and Buddhist people is situated at an altitude of 4380 metres in Langtang region. If you would like to experience the high pass then you can extend your trek to Langtang Gosaikunda lake which will take to Lauribina Pass (4600 m) and so many holy lakes are around Gosaikunda. It is belive that there are 108 holy lakes in Gosaikunda area. During the festivals many locals from across the country visit this lake and take a bath to be purified.

Meals and Accommodation in Langtang Region

Langtag region though it is not far from the capital city Kathmandu is still very rural. This region isnt popular among the trekkers as Annapurna and Everest so those tea houses which are there are enough to find the places even in peak season time. Comparing other parts of Nepal Langtang region tea houses are more basic and meals are basic but still is sufficient for trekkers.  Kangin Gompa is the biggest village in this region with better tea houses.
