Chitwan is the first national park in Nepal founded in 1973. In 1984 it was entered onto the UNESCO world heritage list. It used to be the royal hunting grounds. It is one of the popular wildlife safari places of Nepal. The park covers an area of 932 km2and it is home for more than 700 species of wildlife. For those who are interested in a wildlife safari tour in Nepal, it can be a good option. Tourists willing to see all the major safari amenities in the Chitwan National Park are offered a 3-day package (including two nights) by Nepal Excursion Treks, but we can customize our itinerary depending on the length of your stay.

Best Season for Chitwan Wildlife Safari Tour

The best times to go on the Chitwan Wildlife Safari are in the spring (February to April) and fall (October to December). The weather is nice and warm, and the skies are clear, which is great for seeing animals and walking in the jungle.

The winter months (December to February) are cooler, especially in the mornings and evenings, but the days are still good for safaris. From June to September, the monsoon season brings heavy rains that make the park green and lush. However, some activities may be limited because the trails are muddy and the rivers are high.

What Makes Chitwan Wildlife Safari Tour Special?

Chitwan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is widely regarded as one of Asia’s best wildlife reserves. This trip is one-of-a-kind because you get to see animals in their natural habitat and learn about Nepal's rich cultural history at the same time.

Key Points:

How Difficult is Chitwan Wildlife Safari Tour?

People of all ages can go on this tour without any problems. You don't have to do a lot of hard work to go on a safari, unlike hiking in the mountains. Most activities, like driving a jeep or riding in a canoe, are easy and fun. Guided jungle walks are short and safe. Families, older travelers, and people who are going to Nepal for the first time can all go on this adventure.

Permits Required

Everyone who wants to go to Chitwan National Park needs to get an entry permit from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation. Nepal Excursion handles all the permits and arrangements, so our guests can relax and enjoy their trip.

Key Points:

Safety and Precautions

Internet and Mobile Phone Network in Chitwan Wildlife Safari Tour

Chitwan National Parkis a wild place, but people can still stay connected while they are on safari. Most hotels and jungle lodges in and around the park have Wi-Fi, but the speed may vary depending on where you are and what the weather is like. Most of the time, internet connections in the main town of Sauraha are good, so it's easy to check your email or share your experiences online.

Major Nepali network providers like NTC (Nepal Telecom)andNcell offer mobile phone service, and the signal is strong in the buffer zones and nearby villages. But when you go deeper into the jungle on a jeep safari or canoe ride, the signal may be weak or not there at all.

Training and Preparation

You don't need any training before going on a Chitwan Wildlife tour, but a little bit of planning can make it even better. It's best to wear clothes that are comfortable and in neutral colors, closed shoes for walking in the jungle, and insect repellent. Knowing some basic rules about wildlife, like how to act on safaris, can help you get the most out of your sightings.

What to Expect During Chitwan Wildlife Safari Tour

A typical Chitwan safari includes both wildlife adventures and cultural activities. You can expect to ride in an open jeep through thick sal forests, glide down the Rapti River in a canoe while looking for crocodiles and rare birds, and go on guided jungle walks. You might see traditional Tharu dance performances in the evenings, or you could relax in a jungle lodge surrounded by nature.

After breakfast, we start a scenic drive to Chitwan National Park. The trip takes about 5–6 hours and takes us through beautiful villages, green river valleys, and terraced farms. On clear days, we'll also be able to see Annapurna, Lamjung Himal, and Langtang Himalayan ranges along the way.

When we get to the jungle resort in Chitwan, we'll be greeted with lunch and have some time to relax. In the late afternoon, we then go on a guided walk to a nearby Tharu village where we can see how the Tharu people live. After that, we walk to the banks of the Rapti River, where we can see a beautiful sunset and wildlife like crocodiles and rhinos along the riverbank.

In the evening, we'll get to see a traditional Tharu cultural show with music and dance. This will give you a deep look at the area's rich history.

Start your day with an exciting canoe ride down the Rapti River and wake up to the sounds of the jungle. We can see marsh mugger crocodiles, gharials, and many other water birds up close on this peaceful trip. Then, go on a guided jungle walk, where our naturalist will help us find animal tracks, birds, and the park's many plants.

Later in the morning, we go to the Elephant Breeding Center. It's one of the few places in the world that works to protect endangered Asian elephants. You will learn about how to care for and breed elephants here.

Then we go back to our resort for lunch and some time to relax. In the afternoon, we go out again for the best part of the day: a thrilling jungle safari in Chitwan National Park. You can either ride an elephant or take a jeep safari to see the thick sal forests and grasslands, depending on what you like. We then might see the rare one-horned rhinoceros, sloth bears, deer, wild boar, and, if we’re lucky, the hard-to-find Bengal tiger on this trip.
