Tilicho Lake is situated at an altitude of 4920 metres above sea level. It’s a beautiful glacier lake just on the foot of Tilicho Peak (7134 mtrs) and few other surrounding snow- capped peaks. During the trek you have follow the trekking trail of Annapurna Circuit Trek up to Manang and after an acclimatization day at Manang then the trail to Tilicho Lake is different. People who are doing the Annapurna Circuit trek will head towards Yak Kharka from Mananag and those who are going to tilicho Lake have to take the lower trekking trail towards Khangsar village and continue towards Tilicho Base Camp and after couple of day then you can get to Yak Kharka and continue towards Thorong La Pass (5416 mtrs) . If you are looking for an adventure to experience the glacier lake and quiet trail then we strongly recommend you to combine your Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake which needs only three more days to combine with the circuit trek. On the trip to Tilicho Lake trek from Manang, you will meet less people as this is not very popular comparing to Annapurna Circuit and physically more demanding trek.The nice view of Khangsar, Tilicho, Gandapurna, Annapurna III admire you during your trek. If the weather is clear then you will find the reward of all your efforts you took to be in Tilicho Lake as the scenery is just great!
Meals and Accommodation in Tilicho Lake Trek
Tilicho Lake trek has standard tea houses along the way. The teahouse accommodation is basic but sufficient for trekkers. The last tea house on the trail is in Tilicho Base Camp (4150 mtrs). Those who are heading to Tilicho Lake have to start the trip in the morning around 6 am and take a pack lunch to have a chance to catch the good weather. All teahouses serve meals and you have really wide options to choose the meal you prefer Nepali dish, Indian or continental. We recommend you to take a bar and enough water while you are on a side trip to Tilicho Lake from Tilicho Base Camp as higher up there isn’t any possibility to get anything.
Trekking trail to Tilicho Lake
Most of the part of the trek is of moderate level of difficulty and you will be walking though the road but once you are heading to Tilicho Lake Base Camp there are few very narrow trails passing though steep hills. You have to be really careful while passing this part of the trail that are in few points because in a strong wind rock can fall down.So you may prepare to take some challenges before you decide to trek to Tilicho Lake Trek.
